B045_02 How to collimate a APM 100 Bino

Before you will start collimating this APM 100 Bino, switch on your mind and record meticulously step by step, what you do.
This is my friendly advice for becoming successful.

At first it will help a lot, to take some fotos to understand, how this APM Bino is mounted: In front of that Bino, every lenses, right and left,
are inserted in there eccentric ring with them you can collimade the system, if you get double pictures at your eyepieces. You will find the
first front ring, the second eccentric ring behind the first one and the third ring, what keeps the lenses. So you have to remove the 1st

This APM100 normally is used for astronomical observation. It means the objects are far far from you. If you get double pictures at the
eyepiece side, you can correct this error by the eccentric ring in front.

Setup

With this setup you start with a Celestron SC system and a  artificial star at the focus of the SC. This creates a parallel beam what you
can use for collimating the APM100 Bino,  as my foto shows. see my first report: http://rohr.aiax.de/APM_GB-02.jpg

To find the correct focus of your artifiicial star, you take a flat as the foto show.

This is my artificial star unit and a short focus eyepiece.

In this way you can remove the first front rings. The screw clamp keeps is on your board.

This bino was collimated before.

Now both front rings are removed, and I will start: This APM 100 was collimated.  So I mark at first the exact position of the ring nut by the red sign.
After this I decollimate the eccentric ring (right tube) by rotationg it 90° degree anti-clockwise.

Now you will get two stars and you know, how to handle the eccentrical ring for collimating this system. Step by step you can collimate
this system, rotating by 30° degree clockwise and watch the star moving of the right telescope. Back to the red marker, then the system is at the prior
position. Start at first with one side of the bino and try to find the optimum. Never optimize both tubes simultaneously   or variantly.

The way to do so, you have to close the left eye, then the right one, and watch, whether  the image/star  left or right in eyepiece is springing or not.
If you cannot 
see any star-movement left or right, then the APM100 is aligned perfectly.
